Fairytale Photoshoot: A Dream Come to Life
Published: December 2025
I am SO excited this month to talk about a photoshoot I completed in November. The end result was a fairytale-esque compilation of flowers, flowy fabric, boas, gloves, and so much tulle. I was WOWED by the photos and so glad I reached out to the incredible EmilyEverAfter to collaborate on this project; it really was a melding of the minds.
A Fairytale Photoshoot: Chasing My Dreams
As I wrote in my newsletter last month, I completed my stint in the VIP mentorship program with Rachel Strickland’s Audacity Project, which gave me a deep insight into what I want to do more of. We had our “graduation” call right before the Thanksgiving holiday, a wonderful recap of our time working together, and all I’ve gotten out of it, and what more there is to come.
I obtained a sincerely wonderful insight into What I Want. And what I want is to make art that works for me: something without stress, something with joy, something that combines vision, collaboration, and skill. For me, at this time, it is aerial photo shoots. And one that has been ringing in my ears is a fairytale design, something dreamy and soft and feminine.
EmilyEverAfter popped up in my social media feed, her photos immediately resonating with my vision. She shared my enthusiasm when I reached out, a critical part of collaboration I’m hungry for these days. We were in total sync on the vision and quickly set a date to beat the coming winter. We made it in the nick of time, and the results are stunning!
The Day
I’m just going to gush about how much I love photoshoot days. The hair styling, the makeup, the OUTFITS. Emily and I pulled together so many accessories from our closets that ideas and visions were popping up left and right once we had the camera out.
I embraced my showgirl, felt like a princess, donned dark angel wings, and laughed endlessly with a soundtrack of encouraging music playing behind us. It truly was MAGIC. I couldn’t believe how endlessly we switched from one vision to the next, themes morphing around us.
As the sun was setting, we did not stop. We chased every last bit of light we could and then some. It continued to set the mood of the day and was such a thrill to go until dusk was at our ankles. Even though it was November, it was the last warm day, and we truly got lucky.
Side note: I need to shout out to our respective boyfriends who joined in on the chaos and made dreams come true that day. This would not have been possible with the men who were willing to set up the rig, handle lighting, frame Mother Nature, and support us through the entire adventure.
The End Result
The Fairytale
was fun, truly bringing a vision to life of cascading flowers. This is how I feel when I climb into the hoop, and to embody that and bring it to life felt like sharing a bit of who I am inside with the world around me. I also never created anything for a shoot before, and I’m actually incredibly proud of the end result of this skirt.
The Showgirl
was a combo of Emily’s styling and vision, plus my history working with retired showgirl Robin Miller. Robin Miller shaped my aerial career with jazz and ballet instruction, endless confidence boosts, and encouragement to be BIG when I was still young enough to want to be small. This felt like embodying everything she taught me in my 20s, and Emily did an amazing job making me truly smile. I’ve never been so happy during a photoshoot before.
The Dark Angel
was a last-minute addition. I had these wings that sat forever in my studio, waiting for me. The addition of the black gloves really pulled the contrast together. This was as the sun was setting, adding even more ambiance. Ultimately, everyone was screaming YES during this part of the day. We weren’t tired, we were exhilarated, and I think these photos really show how motivated we all were to keep going.
Reflection
Overall, I am just SO HAPPY to share this work with you all this month. To share something I was really excited about, helped collaborate on, and honestly was just such a great day, means a lot to me. I love making this kind of magic and I hope everyone else resonates with it a little bit as well.
